Product Review: LuLaRoe Athletic Pants

Recently my sister started working with LuLaRoe, which is an up-and-coming clothing line that you shop from your own house. Remember those old tupperware parties? It’s like that, except you get cloooothes, like, really cute clothes. So, being the dutiful and adoring little sister I am, I checked it out as soon as my sister’s “shop” was up and running, and I saw a lot of really cute things that were straight up my “comfy and cute” alley. Being in the fitness industry, I really like to have staples in my wardrobe that can dress up or down. And I don’t think I could ever have enough running pants.

If you’re like me when it comes to running pants, it’s hard to find the perfect fit. There are some essentials that make for a comfortable run:

  1. Tight enough to stay put without “crotch sag” or “suck off your underwear”

  2. Loose enough to hug but not constrict my leg/butt muscles

  3. No “swooshy”!! (close-fitting, so the fabric doesn’t rub on itself)

Getting the balance of these three characteristics just right is almost impossible. I’ve had running pants that fit everywhere, except the calves were so tight it left seam imprints on my legs. I’ve had pants that fit really well overall, but the waistband was so loose I could carry some groceries in there. I’ve had pants that fit through the waist, the thighs, the calves, but they ended up being inches too long. I’ve had pants that, by the time you’ve gotten five minutes into your run, have eaten your undies right off your bum. Somehow. That one still baffles me.

Having not found my “perfect running pant,” I decided to try LuLaRoe’s version of the athletic legging. How could I not, when sister had included athletic gear in her stock specifically because of me??

Y’all. Seriously. Just look.

Cute patterns! Great fit! Perfect length! AND moisture wicking?! Dude. I love these pants. Let me explain:

When I first tried these on, I was almost afraid they were too small. There was a little bit of a “hug” going on all over, and I wasn’t used to that sort of sensation. I mentioned it to my sister, “You know, it’s almost like these are compression pants.”

And she replied, “Yes, they are! They are supposed to aid in recovery!”

I thought that was pretty cool, and I knew that the only way to know how they performed was to put them to the test. I took them on a run, and then on a strength workout. And let me tell you some of the things I discovered:

  1. The fabric holds true. Despite my sweat or the length of time I’d been wearing these pants, the compression feature never quit. This fabric NEVER stretched or sagged.

  2. When I felt my workout heating up, it wasn’t long before I noticed that my legs were distinctly cooler because of the moisture wicking. The breeze was able to cool me so well largely because the pants had pulled my sweat out to where it could be useful to cool me off!

  3. No matter how I moved, the pants came with me. No pulling, bunching, scooting, sliding, nothing. I literally put them on and forgot about them.

  4. And let’s get real about that pattern. Seriously adorable.

I wore them to the Hard Cider 5k in Charlottesville (above) and I’m glad I did! They kept me cool, and I had enough battling to do with the course so I really didn’t have the energy to fuss over sliding running pants. And even though I ran that brutal course and then got on a bus and then sat in a car and then packed up my Lil’ Man and sat in a car again for a really long time to get back home, I really wasn’t all that sore. Now, part of that is that I’m pretty diligent with my post-workout stretching. And part of that I credit to the compression feature.

After all the workouts and runs (and, let’s be honest, lazy laundry day afternoons) that I’ve spent in these pants, they are just as awesome as the day I got them! So if you’re looking for a favorite pair of running pants that you can put on and forget about, maybe check out LuLaRoe!! And if you don’t have a LuLaRoe consultant, bounce on over to my sister’s page and check out her online store.
